Lori and Roger's House of Jazz
Welcome to an intimate musical sanctuary designed for deep exploration of jazz artistry. This professional teaching and recording studio serves as home to weekend intensives focused on the Great American Songbook, improvisation, ear training, ensemble work, and the creative heart of jazz performance.
The room features world-class instruments that inspire both students and professional musicians: a stunning 7'4" Bosendorfer grand piano, a complete Gretsch drum set with cymbals, two acoustic basses, and a selection of quality amplifiers. Every element has been chosen to support serious musical study and collaboration.
Roger Spencer and Lori Mechem bring decades of professional performance and teaching experience to these intimate weekend gatherings. Whether exploring the sophisticated harmonies of a particular composer, developing improvisational skills, or working on ensemble interplay, you'll learn directly from two working musicians deeply committed to passing on the traditions and creative spirit of jazz to the next generation.
Private Lessons
With jazz, we are never done! There is always something new and exciting to learn! This is why I love helping others become balanced and well-rounded musicians.
Therefore, I am accepting intermediate and advanced level students for private lessons in the following areas of study:

Private coaching of your professional ensemble (trio or larger)
If you live in the Nashville area, I will be teaching lessons my home. If you live outside of Nashville, I offer lessons online via Zoom.
RATES (for any of the above, in person, or online)
1 hour session – $125
1.5 hour session – $175.
2 hour session – $250
For lessons in person or online, I accept check, cash and credit cards via Stripe or PayPal. All lessons are to be paid IN FULL before scheduled lesson times.
